1st FFNM President’s Message
It gives me immense pleasure in welcoming you to our Fragility Fracture Network of Malaysia. What started of as a group of doctors discussing during a cup of coffee about their respective issues managing elderly patients with hip fractures have led to the formation of this network. We realized that the issues pertaining to managing these senior citizens are about the same not only in Malaysia but across the globe. With a strong call for action throughout the globe, we decided that we should represent the same concern by forming this alliance among doctors who primarily manage orthogeriatric age category individuals. Along with my colleagues of this network with vast experience in managing these groups of patients, we wanted to move forward to put forth our combined ideas on improving fragility fracture management.
As it is stated in our mission statement, we wish to create a national network of fragility fracture experts from different states throughout Malaysia. These patients warrant priority in managing their fragility fracture across all hospitals nationwide. We also aim to create a sense of urgency in handling fragility fracture patients with multidisciplinary approach. We are working now towards creating and establishing guidelines and standard of best practice. We are hoping to get full support from doctors in the ministry, university, private hospitals and also the relevant authorities to fulfill our mission.
We will be having an official launch of our FFNM on the 22nd March 2019 during the 25th Annual Scientific Meeting of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry 2019 in Kuala Lumpur. I should emphasize that I enthusiastically look forward to meeting and interacting with you during the launch and also in every occasion of the FFNM meetings. Your contributions, suggestions and feedbacks are of utmost importance for further advancement of this network to further higher levels.
