Message from The President of Fragility Fracture Network Malaysia

It is a privilege and an honour to serve as President of the Fragility Fracture Network Malaysia (FFNM) for the 2026–2028 term.

Since its establishment in 2018, FFNM has brought together healthcare professionals from different disciplines with a shared commitment to improving the care of people with fragility fractures. I would like to acknowledge our past presidents and council members, whose leadership and dedication have built a strong foundation for the network and strengthened its impact both nationally and internationally. This was recognised when FFNM received the David Marsh Regionalisation Award at the 13th Fragility Fracture Network Global Congress in 2026 for our efforts to improve hip fracture care in Malaysia.

As Malaysia’s population continues to age, fragility fractures will become an increasingly important healthcare challenge. Our work must extend beyond treating the fracture itself. We need to strengthen coordinated, multidisciplinary care across the entire patient journey, from acute fracture management and rehabilitation to falls prevention, osteoporosis treatment, and prevention of the next fracture.

In the coming term, FFNM will continue to strengthen orthogeriatric and fracture liaison services, expand education and training across healthcare disciplines, support research and quality improvement, and build stronger partnerships with primary care, hospitals, professional societies, and policymakers.

Most importantly, FFNM is a network. Our progress depends on the collective efforts of clinicians, nurses, allied health professionals, researchers, and partners across Malaysia.

I look forward to working with all of you as we continue to improve fragility fracture care and help older Malaysians recover better, maintain their independence, and prevent future fractures.
